I mainly read horror books and lately I’ve been getting my books from Borders marketplace where they are really cheap. Would it still be worth it to buy an ereader? How is the variety of ebooks? I would hate to buy an ereader but still end up buying an occasional book from Borders because it’s not avaible for the ereader.
I’m a Kindle 2 owner. I think you should definitely go for the Aamzon Kindle, especially you need a wide selection of books. Here is a comparison of it with the latest model of the Sony Reader:

I just took a look at the books for the Kindle, and found 2 categories related to horror (there may be other related categorie too):

The advantage of the Kindle over Sony Reader include free wireless access, more content support, and the text-to-speech function. I like the text-to-speech function especially, because I can "read" books without even holding or looking at the Kindle. Now I like to use this function when I’ve myself busy on some boring things, say when I’m on the step machine or doing some housework…
I love my Kindle because it has helped me improve a lot on my efficiency and utilize my time. Before I owned the Kindle, waiting time like when I’m waiting for friends or waiting for shuttle bus or some thing like that is simply wasted. Now I just need to bring the Kindle 2 along with me. It is so light weight and handy, and it makes me like to read even more than I have in the past.
This is my opinion and hope it helps. And I remember I read this review when I decide to buy the Kindle 2:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Freview%2FR2DUM7S4XW06QN%3Fie%3DUTF8%26ASIN%3DB00154JDAI%26nodeID%3D%26ref%255F%3Dcm%255Fcr%255Fpr%255Fcmt&tag=moreinfo-po-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=390957
Finally, you are lucky that Amazon just announced a price slash on the Kindle 2 (Amazon is the only place where you can buy a new Kindle). It is now selling $60 cheaper than the price I got my Kindle… So take the chance
Hope it helps.

I’ll suggest you to get the Kindle instead of the Sony Reader. Read the review here to know more:

I own the Kindle 2 and I like it very much. It is better than Sony Reader because Amazon provide good content support, and the number of books available in Kindle format is kept on increasing (right now there are over 300,000 Kindle books). Sony Reader, however, many users complaint that it is difficult to find suitable books. Other benefits of the Kindle over Sony Reader include the free wireless internet access, and the text-to-speech function.
If you need to read PDF with charts and graphics, you may want to go for the Kindle DX. Read this review and you should be able to decide which one to get:
